Ok, I'm not a big fan of last-minute cosplay, but about a week before Katsucon, Kenny decided he wanted to cosplay. ^^;; So when we went to buy stuff the weekend before, we bought the navy blue fabric and stuff for the staff, but decided to use a black bedsheet for the kimono part (not an actual kimono but improvising.) but unfortunately, when kenny went to buy black sheets, he couldn't find anywhere that sold them. so he bought a black bedskirt, but bedskirts are mostly white. so that got returned, and we used a scrap piece of black fabric left over from when i made crappy cardboard sword/sheaths for my Jin costume (A-kon the summer before) that my mom had sent up. Since I found the plastic swords, I didn't need the fabric. It was really stiff but we made it work. it's only sleeves and the collar. The rest of the black was a black robe-thing they gave all of the freshman for a commencement ceremony at the beginning of the year. Anyways, the staff part we made all in one night, except for the paint job. the beads are cheap mardi gras beads that we spraypainted. the staff is a piece of PVC pipe, with a big metal circle covered in cardboard and ping-pong balls for the top. It turned out pretty well for a one-week costume. well, i still prefer to make higher-quality costumes, but *sigh* it turned out all right. Oh yeah, this was another costume made at college with NO SEWING MACHINE.
