This costume was made for Davine, who wanted a costume to wear to the Renaissance Festival in Florida over spring break (2006). The majority of the skirt was made in one night with NO SEWING MACHINE. yay for college projects. The work was a group effort, with sewing labor from myself, Davine, and Juline. The design was also a collaboration, inspired by a skirt Davine found for sale online but morphed completely. Credit for the design goes to a lot of people, including Davine, Juline, Lissa, Arti, Caroline, and myself. As for the wings, they are framed with wire coat hangers, wrapped in shiny star wire and covered in toole (with some loose stars and purple toole inside). The frame we made the night we made most of the skirt, but the wings were finished on another night by Davine and myself. These are probably the most successful wings I've made. :) This costume came about because we were working on cosplay for Katsucon, and the weekend before we went costume-shopping, and Davine came along and we helped her design her skirt. And of course right after shopping, people feel inspired to make the costume. :) |
