My second interview went well, now I’m just waiting for my security clearance. Classes have been going well, aside from having *gasp* homework. What is this? I got accepted onto the “STOP” team at work, and taught my first activation class this morning. Today I only had one class, but was busy with work for 2 hours before class, then after class lunch, drop by Professor Doak’s office, then took a busy down to the Best Buy to get a firewire cable for the video camera (recorded my first video blog for the Ebifrytachi project) and a longer ethernet cable. It was hot today, and the trip was kind of exhausting (but I woke up feeling tired so that might also have had something to do with it.)
Hm, in other news…Caroline’s 21st birthday was last week, SAC fair was Sunday and I tabled all day for that for anime club. Ran to the white house with Juline that evening and met Anh and others for a free concert from the National Symphony Orchestra on the lawn. Then David brought over fresh peach pie his parents had left him. Mmm. Went to the gym with Becky yesterday and worked out a little. I didn’t lift very much, but man am I sore today. I need to work my upper body muscles more.
I finally typed up a proposal for my thesis. Now I’m avoiding my Chinese essay. But all the other homework I managed to do yesterday (No class! Hurray for Labor Day!) which was much cooler than leaving it all for tonight. When I’m tired. At least I can sleep in until late tomorrow. Unfortunately I have class until late, but then I’m meeting Becky at the gym for a work out and then we’re going to dinner. :) Ok, time to start that stupid essay…

I was going to go to bed early after writing an update of the past few days. But then I remembered a few emails I had to send out. And a few became a lot. Oops. But yeah…interview went well. I have a second one tomorrow. I’ve been working at the tech center a bit and it’s great to be back there, even if I don’t know most of the student staff anymore (probably 80% new hires from last year!) It’s really a fun place to work. Also, I took the Chinese placement test and got placed into 3rd level Chinese, so I switched that today. And talked to Mori-sensei (apparently I didn’t have to take the placement test but I took it this morning just to be safe, before I talked to Mori-sensei about transfer credits from Keio) and I’m going to actually get some credit from my year abroad. I just have to wait for my spring semester transcript to arrive. -_- But busy busy busy. Time for bed.

I made it to DC! Our luggage almost didn’t b/c we got to the airport a bit late, but it got on late so we got it off the belt quickly :) My aunt’s new apartment is really nice, we had to drop by to pick up the stuff she’d been keeping for me (and my mom’s staying there). My apartment is much nicer than I expected, even if the furniture in the bedroom doesn’t *quite* fit…someone wasn’t thinking when they designed this place. oh well.
It feels kind of weird being back on campus after being away for so long, but it’s nice too. Especially seeing people. More people I know should start arriving in a few days. Also getting busy with Peer Advising stuff, I have the interview for my internship tomorrow morning (!!) and I need to go by the tech center to see about my job…And take the placement tests on Monday to see if my awesome schedule will hold up. Fingers crossed. I may have to shuffle some language classes though…Well, just wanted to say I’m still alive. Have internet. I’m going back to putting things away now.

I’ve been home. Life’s been pretty good overall. Last week I had my dentist appointment (”Well, if the chip isn’t bothering you…we can do nothing, or file the edges, or fill it in.”–I opted to do nothing.) then doctor appointment (healthy aside from low iron levels). Don’t really remember what I did Tuesday…was that the day Sam came over? I think so. We did some sewing and tickling. Wednesday…I think I probably helped run errands and then went running around Town Lake (3 mile loop! barely…) which was great but so tough at the same time–I haven’t gone running in forever. Thursday I ended up running around to help my mom and sister with errands and stuff all day, then went to swing with Nik that night. We had an impromptu high school reunion–Maddie, Aline, Rachel, Priya, and Tim were all there! Nik went home when we all left but the rest of us (sans Maddie who snuck off before I could say goodbye) hung out near Rachel’s car being mischievous for 20 or 30 minutes.
Friday (yesterday), I swam, did some laundy, helped my mom clean out the fridge, went shopping with Romy (where I heard one of the songs Stacy often sings in karaoke, and was struck with a pang of NATSUKASHII!), had dinner with her and my family, then dragged Bree to blues dancing (I had to call, beg and plead and grovel for ten minutes to drag her out of her pjs to go dancing with me like she promised). Despite her initial unwillingness to leave her nice comfortable house, she and I both had a great time (and she thoroughly enjoyed the mini with the top down). Thanks Bree!
Today is looking to be a family day…but tonight I’m going out again with The Gang, which has grown a bit since more people were discovered to be in town. Should be fun. Sadly Lauren and Romy are out in College Station already. My mom reminded me I have to start packing soon. Drat. Anyways, I should probably get dressed now.

Since everyone else seems to be posting around now, I guess I’ll jump on the bandwagon. I still have been kind of lazy, but I finally started getting out a bit more. (I guess the week grace period of my mom enjoying me is up, she’s starting to get more irritable.) Thursday was my dad’s birthday, so we had a late family dinner (after he got back from tennis) and did cake/presents (I made the cake and Sammy helped me decorate it with all these fancy frosting tips) then Nik and I went to swing, getting there around 10:30. Priya and Tim were there, even though Priz left early (11) it was kind of fun. Also saw Peter and Collin there at the end. Oh yeah, Thursday morning was the morning I had a horrible experience at the doctor’s office.

I’ve been home for almost a week now O.o (which I just realized) and I haven’t really accomplished much. I’ve done most of my unpacking…clothes anyway. My room is still a wreck from all the papers and books and old mail and stuff all over my desk and stuff. I’m sure there’s a ton of stuff i need to do, but I felt a little overwhelmed from the getting home process–that and readjusting to being home. But I need to wrap up a couple things for the study-abroad scholarships I received, and take care of a couple things for my internship application and going back to school…not to mention I wanted to sell some doujinshi and stuff online but havent’ gotten around to that yet–and I leave in 2 weeks for DC. oops.
I’ve been spending lots of quality time with the family, which is nice. And Birthday Week is almost over–tomorrow is my dad’s birthday. Then I have a bit of a break until my mom’s. Last night my mom and I watched 3 movies, and although she fell asleep through most of them, I was up until very very late. Oops.
Anyways, we’re hopefully going to do a Project or two today. Maybe. And I need to find the instructions on what I need to do now that I’m back from abroad for those scholarships.
